Rather than the standard New Year Resolutions of ‘join a gym’ or ‘lose weight’, why not take a different perspective and go down the detox route?
  • Learn to say No!
Ever found yourself saying ‘yes’ to someone when you really want to say ‘No’?  Often we can feel obliged to do things for people and sometimes we have commitments that we need to stick to.  We can’t just abandon everything and give up on all our responsibilities after all! There are things however, that you might be doing that you don’t really need to.  If you are saying ‘yes’ to people and doing things that you don’t want to will mean you are just hurting yourself. Carry on doing that and you will end up feeling resentful and ultimately ill. So practice saying ‘No!’ Put your personal boundaries in place and stop saying ‘yes’ to the things that are damaging you.
  • Change old patterns
Many of us get caught up in old patterns of behaviour and end up doing things that no longer serve us. Automatic responses to things can continue unless you consciously reflect on what you are doing and how you want things to change. From new, more positive habits. Tackle one thing at a time so you don’t get overwhelmed and give up!
  • Detox
Got anyone in your life that drains you rather than sustains you? As well as a detox for your body, go a step further and think about detoxing people out of your life. Toxic relationships can send you in to a negative tailspin so let go of anyone that lies to you, uses you or disrespects you. Let go of those negative people and nurture yourself by surrounding yourself with family and friends that bring in positivity and support.
  • Technology
In the world of Wi-Fi and 24/7 technology we can become consumed with social media, email and constant messaging. The negative effects of technology on your body are well documented. You will also lose hours of your day looking at things that don’t take you forward in life. Getting ‘likes’ on your latest photo gives you a boost to your happy hormones, so ultimately technology and social media are addictive. Be mindful and restrict how much time you spend. Put down the technology and reconnect with actual conversation!
  • De-Clutter
Everyone accumulates ‘stuff’. Whether it is piled up on your desk, in your wardrobe, living room or in your car. If you have piles of ‘stuff’ that isn’t serving any lasting purpose in your life, get rid of it. Piles of ‘stuff’ not only clutters up your space, it also clutters up your brain – so get rid! As you make positive changes, remember people often have a vested interest in keeping you the same. They won’t like it when you change if it means things changing for them. Don’t let that stop you. Get through any challenges and become the full and best version of yourself and make 2018 your best year yet! Browse Open Jobs on Glassdoor:
