Nuclear Inspector

We are seeking a skilled and qualified Nuclear Inspector to join our client's dynamic manufacturing team.

The Nuclear Inspector performs inspections, checks, tests and sampling procedures of incoming materials, parts and components and finished items used in the manufacture of products for the nuclear industry including NDE within their qualified scope. The NI will have the primary responsibility to acquire, process and report inspection data to ensure that the highest standards are applied at all times.

Recognising that Fort Vale Nuclear products (and services) need to be designed, manufactured, produced and delivered without defect and that to achieve this innovative inspection operations are attained to that meet required and desired quality standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform inspections of purchased parts, subassemblies or finished company products according to well defined criteria using standard physical, mechanical and/or electrical measurements.
  • Coordinate inspection activities and manage related project inspection functions.
  • Rework or reject subassemblies or finished products as required.
  • Accurately document the results of the inspections and testing.
  • Maintain all controlled document files and test records in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Coordinate calibration of all test equipment and fixtures.
  • Monitor critical equipment and instrumentation to ensure proper operation and calibration.
  • Participate in the construction and/or revision of procedure’s for the inspection function.
  • Assist in the writing and updating inspection procedures, protocol and checklists.

Experience/ Knowledge:

  • Experience in all inspection functions and activities
  • Experience of operating computing equipment for data processes
  • Experience of inspection within the nuclear industry is desired
  • Working knowledge of measurement instruments
  • Quality Engineering
  • Knowledge of ISO9001 and although not essential, knowledge of ASME PED would be a clear advantage

Qualifications:

  • Time Served Mechanical Engineer (or have an equivalent qualification).

Working hours:

7.30am-4.15pm Monday-Thursday

7.30am-12.30pm Friday
