Physiotherapy Assistant Practitioner Orthopaedics

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Physiotherapy Associate Practitioner to join our Physiotherapy team based at University Hospital Llandough.

The Orthopaedic Team is a dynamic and enthusiastic group of staff committed to improving the care and support provided to patients undergoing surgery. We actively encourage all team members to contribute ideas and be involved in service development and improvement.

Your role will include planning, reviewing, and progressing delegated physiotherapy interventions for both pre- and post-operative patients, predominantly within an inpatient setting, with some input into community settings.

The ideal candidate will have experience in exercise prescription and be an effective team player with a strong sense of accountability. You will be able to communicate effectively with colleagues and demonstrate excellent motivational skills. The role requires the ability to work independently at times without direct supervision. This post may include aspects of personal care.

The post holder will be required to work a seven-day rota to support the delivery of a seven-day Physiotherapy service

The Physiotherapy Associate Practioner Role is based at University Hospital Llandough but may also involve delivering exercise interventions in a community setting.

The role involves:
Ward based duties

Treating people before and after their orthopaedic surgery, with mobility and exercise programmes.

Encouraging and motivating individuals to participat e in their treatment programmes .

Assisting with referrals to other services such as out-patient physio, community reablement teams.

Collating and inputting statistical and outcoemmeasure data.

Community duties may include

Assisting the team to run prehabilitation programmes within community settings

Booking and screening of patients for prehabilitation

You will be working within a team of Physiotherapists, Consultants, Occupational Therapists, Dietitians and Nursing colleagues.

Your role also includes other non-clinical tasks such as document scanning, ordering of equipment and infection prevention and health and safety tasks. You will be encouraged to contribute towards service development and improvement projects.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
