Role Purpose

We are seeking an experienced and proactive Transport Supervisor to support the daily management of a busy transport operation. This role involves overseeing a fleet of vehicles and coordinating a large team of drivers in a fast-paced home delivery environment. The successful candidate will have previous transport supervision experience, strong organisational skills, and the ability to work independently while maintaining high operational standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the Transport Manager in the day-to-day running of the transport operation.
• Ensure all transport activities are carried out safely, efficiently, and in compliance with company policies and legal requirements.
• Monitor and report any instances of non-compliance to the Transport Manager.
• Conduct daily driver pre-briefs and ensure all drivers are fully prepared for their shifts.
• Manage and resolve day-to-day driver issues, including uniform compliance, vehicle cleanliness, and daily vehicle checks.
• Liaise with drivers, maintenance providers, and breakdown recovery companies regarding vehicle breakdowns and operational issues.
• Ensure all vehicle inspections and checks are completed and recorded on a daily basis.
• Maintain accurate transport documentation and paperwork.
• Promote and enforce Health & Safety procedures at all times.
• Assist in ensuring the safe and timely delivery of products to customers.

Skills, Experience & KnowledgeEssential

• Previous Transport Supervisor experience.
• Experience working within a Class 2 home delivery operation.
• Strong knowledge of driver hours regulations and transport compliance.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong organisational and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
• High attention to detail and accuracy.

Working Environment

This is a demanding and fast-paced role requiring the supervision of over 40 drivers during the morning operation. The successful candidate will spend time working across the transport office, warehouse, and yard, ensuring drivers are dispatched efficiently and operational standards are maintained throughout the shift.

Pay: From £15.12 per hour
