Our break room is a small office that is about 10x6. The room (closet) allows 6 people to sit in there and we have 13+ any given day 9-5:30. Many of us have to fond places in the airport to sit at between assignments. This does not allow us to socialize as a team. No PTO Takes 40 hours worked to earn 1 hr of sick time Healthcare plans are horrible Takes a long time to get a uniform . I am going on 53 days since hire and I had to borrow a uniform shirt from another employee. There are no advancement opportunities Someone who works here 20+ years makes the same as a new hire. There are no pay increases other than minimum wage increases. No reason to work harder at this job. Company in 2023 made 8.1 Billion CEO made 3Million. No rewards to Employees who make this Corporation what it is
Pros
It was only five minute ride to work
Cons
I went for my interview and my interviewer didn't have my resume or know anything about me since his manager but didn't provide him with any of the materials. A month later I was hired and was told I would get my first paycheck in two weeks, the first two would be paper checks and the rest would be direct deposit. Two weeks passed and no paycheck. I inquired with the administrator and my supervisor and was told I'll get one. Three weeks go by and I get the same story by my supervisor and admin. Four weeks, no pay. I'm told this never happens and I will get one. Five weeks I'm told by my supervisor that I was just hired at a bad time! A paper check for 40 hours shows up in the middle of the 5th week (won't clear in my bank till next week) after working over 200 hours. Random paper checks showed up over the next few weeks until I was caught up and eventually direct deposit started. It took over a month to be able to clock in. It took over two months to get my uniforms and half of it was wrong. I returned them but never got the rest of my uniforms that I promised the first week. It took well over two months to get my boots and tools that were promised the first week. After not getting any help from my supervisor and his administrator I contacted ABM corporate and began opening tickets that the local manager finally had to address one by one. Once resolved my supervisor asked me not to contact ABM in the future with any problems and to go to him first. I reminded him that is what I had been doing for months as my issues got worse and multiplied. I let him know that I would only be contacting ABM with my future issues. Safety training was almost non existent and months behind, if the maintenance team was able to get together for a safety meeting 75% of the time we were dismissed because my supervisors administrator couldn't figure out how to log us into the computer system. That was just the beginning of the new job! The credit card and gas cards were missing or deactivated half of the time. Some of the trucks couldn't leave the lot because they had expired inspections. Over the next few months I talked to my co workers and they also missed paychecks, had problems with missing hours on their paychecks, and few issues even bigger than mine. We had no employee handbook. We had no way to check our sick and vacation time hours (nothing on our pay stubs or online) except for asking the disorganized and incompetent people that I've already mentioned. Final straw.....The amount of sick time promised to me by my supervisor and administrator was cut in half without any explanation or apology. The people at the Feasterville Trevose, PA Veolia Water location were a real pleasure to work with and serve on a daily basis. I worked for ABM but ABM didn't work for me so I had to resign after 8 months.
Pros
Growing corporation. Willing to hire almost anyone. Will give those who enjoy putting their head down and staying placement good reviews.
Cons
Could benefit from some process enhancements to streamline processes and enhance performance of those not in the 'corporate clique'. If you try to hard to help improve new systems and integrate them for the best practices, you will be let go. Clearly a strong appropriation of jealousy of others and their unique, dynamic skill sets to save their own jobs at end of day. Lots of gossip, coming from corporate to smaller branches, etc. Unprofessional work atmosphere.
Pros
Very professional management interviews for a new position.
Cons
I went through four interviews on my initial search and was told the position got put on hold. One week later the position opened back up so I reapplied and I was told I had the position and would receive an offer letter this past Friday. I had not heard anything so I contacted them today and they said the position was put back on hold after I was informed that I was getting the position. In today's tough times and economy this is a horrible way to treat myself and my family as we were very much looking forward to being a part of this company. They lost a great asset!
Pros
Flexible work schedule Standard hours/not too much OT
Cons
Terrible recruitment No support from upper management No clear direction for company’s future Benefits package leaves a lot to be desired High employee turnover Employee appreciation is heavily performative and no real appreciation/rewards are given
Pros
There’s absolutely nothing good to say about this company.
Cons
I really wish there were something positive I could say about ABM Industries, but my experience was extremely disappointing from start to finish. The onboarding process was a complete mess. As someone with significant experience in this industry, it was clear right away that the recruitment process is poorly managed. I had to complete my background check and drug test twice, and it took over three months just to get hired. Once hired, the situation didn’t improve. There was little to no proper training. I was given multiple responsibilities without clear instructions or support, leaving me to figure things out on my own. The training process is disorganized and ineffective, and the pay is very low considering the expectations and workload. After a few months, I realized this environment wasn’t sustainable. It felt like the only way to stay was to sacrifice your sanity and accept the chaos, which I wasn’t willing to do. I take pride in my work and believe in doing things the right way, and this company does not support that. Human Resources was also very unhelpful. From the beginning, I felt the need to document everything—and I’m glad I did. This is the kind of workplace where keeping detailed records is necessary. I would not recommend this company. If you do choose to work here, make sure you document everything—you will need it.
Pros
The work is easy to do and the company is very stable.
Cons
Poor management that expects you to work like a slave and will not fire the irresponsible dumb founded employees they have. They would rather stress out the good and reliable talent they have and run them away.
Pros
Youth Good Hours Valuable Experience
Cons
Favouritism Team leader recruitment needs to be looked at again
