What is the hiring process like at Advance Auto Parts?

Pay, lack of training, entitled co-workers, pay, unorganized.

The company caps raises at 10% of your current base pay, so even if you work hard for a promotion you'll likely be compensated far less then if they hire someone brand new with no experience. Hours keep getting cut for part time employees but the company keeps hiring new people instead of giving existing personnel the hours. No rotating schedule to provide weekends off.

Free and friendly most of the time

The recruitment order was problematic, causing newly appointed managers to be unable to manage their subordinates.

Does not fully support employees. Doesn't care about loyalty, and how much time an employee has been there. Does yearly reviews, but often says they don't " have the money for raises". You have to literally ask for raises, and keep on making your case. Really doesn't want to listen to employees. Weaknesses in Management- High turnover rate at some stores. Poor hires- Managers hired not always experienced in retail auto parts, and do not always know anything about parts. Mismanagement, and personnel issues. Some hire with the "buddy system" in mind, hiring people that are personal friends. Some managers allow some employees to do whatever they want, and get away with anything, and then write others up, and/or fire them for stupid reasons. ( Example: One employee had a known drug issue, but it was never addressed. She got hurt on the job, and refused to go to the hospital, because they didn't want to be drug tested.)

Easy hours. Easy to get through paperwork

Micro managed. No real incentive programs Unrealistic goals

Networking opportunities Good Bonus pay if you have a good location, solid crew, and can outperform your competitors Great place to start your career if you have a solid DM and regional support staff If you ever need employment these people are always hiring

Corporate puts profits over employees Long hours due to high turnover (50 Hrs salary but expected to work 60-80 hrs when the company decides to cut hours for shareholders' interests) ABSOLUTELY NO WORK LIFE BALANCE IF YOU ARE NOT STRICT ABOUT THE COMPANY RESPECTING YOUR TIME OR IF YOU HAVE A BAD CREW (crews change often due to low wages but when you get good employees that stick around this gets easier)
