Pros
Its so bad I want to give you a zero
Cons
Alo's image is a superficial illusion and does not match the reality inside the company or its practices.
There's no focus on employee well-being, zero, zip, zilch, nada
- The Beverly Hills office with fresh juices and a gym, is for influencers only, not employees. Grabbing an apple on your first day will be quickly discouraged by a security guard, you will be asked to put it back.
- The contrast between the Commerce location and BH is significant and stark. A rundown area across three separate warehouses that you will run between meetings as teams are scattered. No food options within 30-minutes, either go without or spend $40+ on delivery. The "gym" a small room with maybe five at-home exercise machines in a dark and dank space.
- Alo enforces on-site with no flexibility for hybrid. On-call availability is expected between 6pm and midnight every day, including weekends and holidays. Interestingly, many senior leaders live out of state, commuting bi-weekly/weekly.
- Alo's new "Flex Holiday" policy removes assumed holidays, PTO requests and approval for days off are required by SVP, including Christmas. The scheduled meetings on these days will result in sacrifice of long weekends and holidays. Alo’s way of avoiding paying out accrued vacation time when an employee leaves.
- Alo product is predominantly made in China and quality construction fit and integrity are sacrificed to the penny. Alo employs 0 designers, 0 technical designers, 0 pattern makers, 0 professionals that have a foundational knowledge, experience, or even passion for Yoga, or any performance attributes.
Alo Product is designed and produced for profit only.
- Alo stands for Air Land Ocean, uses no eco-friendly materials, has no regulatory manufacturing practices in place, and continues the outdated practice of sending 100% of all product used for sampling, unsold merchandise and overstock, to an incinerator.
