What is working from home like at Corning?

      Good and bad

      Process engineer
      Former employee
      Hickory, NC
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business outlook

      Pros

Exposure to upper management, training and development program is top notch. The company was very flexible in terms of working hours and allowing some work from home, when needed.

      Cons

The company does not respect women and cannot keep women engineers. This is harsh to say but the culture is still that of a good old boys club and though they claim to respect different viewpoints, I feel that many women are driven out from lack of respect

      Pros

Innovative company, constantly improving, solving real-world problems. People are helpful to work with.

      Cons

Salary is a bit low. Vacation is low. Work from home / remote work is not as flexible as many companies.

      Dissapointing experience

      Business outlook

      Pros

+ Pleasant colleagues + Salaries not too low + nice and comfortable office + hybrid WFH arrangement and a good level of flexibility

      Cons

What many people have shared before me. - company's values are only on paper - resistance to change - high turnover - upper management can be quite toxic, disconnected & uninvolved, and blames whatever is going wrong on the market conditions or their subordinates - salaries are not as high as in many similar jobs around the area. Sometimes on the same level, many times a bit lower. - raises are either very low or some years being skipped, definitely lower than inflation. - scarce opportunities to grow - favoritism - no proper recognition - performance tracking measures and KPIs were either irrelevant, or not being looked at in the first place I could keep adding to this list...

      Pros

Working at Corning has been an enriching experience due to its strong emphasis on flexibility and collaboration. The company fosters an inclusive environment where teamwork and open communication are encouraged at all levels. Flexible work arrangements are a huge plus, allowing for a great work-life balance, which is especially appreciated in today’s fast-paced world. The collaborative culture here is one of the best I’ve experienced, with cross-functional teams working together to innovate and solve complex problems. Leadership is approachable and genuinely invested in employee development, and there’s a real sense of camaraderie among colleagues. If you're looking for a place that values both professional growth and personal well-being, Corning is a great choice.

I cannot think of any downsides.
