What is working from home like at Indeed?

Great brand that is losing its way due to poor management

      Pros

Great benefits, supports work from home, awesome offices and very good pay. The mission that makes you proud to work there. Decent work life balance. Well known brand.

      Cons

The senior leadership team is stacked with long timers who don't know how to evolve the business and have little to no experience outside of Indeed. They reject the ideas and suggestions of newer leaders from the outside, stifling innovation and sending people in circles. The core product performs horribly for both job seekers and employers and is not getting better. Politics, fear, empire building and subterfuge have replaced a once supportive and dynamic culture

Company used to be very flexible and inclusive. With cost cuts and layoffs the atmosphere is getting worse. While understandable - SLT has had to be

      Pros

Working at Indeed was an amazing experience. I was able to work across multiple departments, and always felt that my peers and managers were some of the kindest, hardworking, and supportive individuals. When I started at the company in 2020, the culture at Indeed was unmatched. In more recent years (post-COVID, 2022ish), culture and morale unfortunately started to take a turn. At first, senior leadership and the former CEO did a really good job keeping employee morale up during the tough times. A few examples of this included when the company granted us YOU days in order to alleviate stress levels, provided WFH compensation for our home offices, and make a concerted effort to answer employee questions in weekly Q&A sessions. I really admired Chris Hyams transparency and honesty throughout his time as CEO. A few other pros: flexible PTO was amazing, great healthcare benefits, and a very inclusive culture and company mindset. Indeed's mission is to help all people get jobs, and their values in inclusive hiring were definitely represented internally.

      Cons

Like I mentioned, post-COVID the company seemed to take a negative turn. Since 2023, Indeed has gone through three mass layoffs that affected employees worldwide. I was unfortunately included in the most recent layoff in 2025. Since the first layoff, I feel that the company has continued to lose the transparency and honesty to its employees that once was the companies greatest strength. In other words, don't lead your employees to believe that the company is on the upswing, and then go through another round of layoffs. The resounding sentiment among employees over the last few years was one of living in fear of losing their jobs, no matter how hard they worked. The distrust that SLT created through lack of transparency will probably take years to fix, and I truly hope that Indeed gets back to the great company it once was.
