Great benefits, competitive pay, a genuinely valuable product with great brand awareness, lots of exemplary employees

NerdWallet once felt like a “pinch me, I must be dreaming” kind of job, but executives killed a warm, vibrant company culture by going public. It’s still nice in many ways, but it also feels like any cold tech company now where the share price matters most to upper management.

Leadership chose to take a bunch of big swings with NerdWallet+ and the Super Bowl ad, which didn't work out, so they laid everyone off.

Fair pay, good benefits, very capable coworkers, remote friendly.

Very disorganized, leadership does not seem to care for or understand software org priorities. I'm positive that if I were sales/marketing/any business related position I'd probably love it here, but not a great place to be a software engineer. Direct management is hit or miss depending on team. There are a lot of weird communication issues between management levels that bleed into IC work affecting project timelines, or maybe it just seems like it to me - engineering seems to be kept in the dark regarding major company wide decisions sometimes. A surprising amount of bureaucracy.

I can't really say there was anything negative about the onboarding process or my experience working here thus far. It's a great place to work.
