Pros
-The team I worked with was amazing. They were all very kind and supportive through everything
-Not only are you allowed to say hello to all the pets, but you're encouraged to, which is always a plus as an animal lover
-The register system is fairly easy to learn
-It's a very low-paced job, making it pretty easy for first-time employees
Cons
*The store recently got bought out by new owners, so this might have changed*
-The management was very cruel. I would pray that my managers weren't working that day. They act like they run the world at the top of the ladder even though there were at least four ranks above them. If the managers were in, they literally spent the entire day on the computer in their office and only came out to criticize your work.
-They said they would be flexible with hours, which I needed because I was very involved with my high school, but if you requested time off they would almost always as like it was surprise and give you crap for it the next day, even though they have to approve the request.
-The pay was not very good. There was little chance for raises or promotions, and everyone seemed to have a different starting pay.
-When hiring, they targeted people with little to no experience, even though we had people applying with plenty of customer service/animal experience.
-They always prided themselves on keeping a clean store but their standards were so unbelievably low
-There wasn't any real training, just shadowing for three or four days and then you're expected to know everything. If someone asked a question that you didn't know the answer to, the managers would act all high and mighty for knowing the answer, even though most of their employees were literal children, myself included.
