What are pay rises like at Publix?

      Publix reviews

      Very competitive

      Business outlook

      Pros

It was a nice atmosphere working in a well lit and clean store.

      Cons

There's no escaping rude people, whether customers or other staff. Management chooses favorites and it reflects in the scheduling. Promotions are very competitive and pay raise doesn't fit promotions.

      Flexible schedule perks

      Pros

flexible schedule, good for college or high school students with busy schedules

      Cons

low pay, not a lot of raise opportunities

      Publix Doesn’t Care That Much

      Former employee

      Business outlook

      Pros

      Great co-workers and nice customers

      Cons

Hard to get some benefits, the pay is not competitive, the raises are small, and the company doesn’t seem to value employee retention. I earn 50 cents more than a new employee by the way which doesn’t seem fair.

Decent pay and benefits, but management issues persist

      Pros

Pay is decent and a pay raise is guaranteed at about the same time each year. I capped out after about 8 years and I've seen people do it in even less time. Take that in to consideration. Benefits are decent with 401k, Private Stock, Holiday bonus and insurance. Part time has guaranteed access to 401k and Private Stock after about 3 months I think but they have to get so many hours a year to qualify for the insurance the following year. Holiday bonus (2 weeks of pay) is only for Full Timers (and full amount is only given after 3 years of service). Meet some interesting people depending on your workplace and what kind of opportunities you try through Publix (like volunteering and/or going to store openings). College scholarship/financial aid opportunities. Learning experience in general.

      Cons

Your coworkers and/or management will make or break your workplace environment just like any other job. They WILL promote idiots or suck-ups. I've met plenty of people who are good people but BAD managers. As the years have gone on, they've taken more and more away from the employees (especially those who are NOT in management). Bonuses for inventory aren't available anymore unless you're in management. And even then it may only be for the department managers (not assistant managers) but I'm not 100% certain on that one. If your store has overnight grocery, a lot of blame is put on them for "not getting enough done". Slacking off is becoming more prevalent (at least in my department of Grocery). There's a lot of "That person's getting away with not trying as hard, so why can't I?". There's no proper repercussions for said slackers. Management will sit down and have a chat, yes, but the issue isn't truly fixed because the person just goes back to it. This may all be completely dependent on your manager though. They will lend out people to other stores even when your store may be hurting on people. So good luck during those days/weeks.

      Business outlook

      Pros

Company stocks, time off , flexibility, and many other benefits

      Cons

Stressful, favoritism, hard to get full time and hard to get promoted unless you know someone, and pay increases are bad

      Pros

Considerate and friendly managers, relatable coworkers, decent benefits, flexible schedule, job rotation available

      Cons

Full-time and a pay raise are hard to obtain, evaluation is heavily based on attendance, hours can fluctuate, full-time hours while only only considered part-time

      Pros

Job is easy enough Most coworkers are friendly Managers rotate to different stores every few years so if you have a bad manager, you can usually transfer or wait them out

      Cons

Managers rotate to different stores every few years so if you have a good one, you may not have them for long Pay scale could be higher Only get evals once a year now, and the pay increase usually doesn't match the effort given

Decent Job. Company experience depends on what store you work at.

      Deli clerk
      Current employee
      Port Charlotte, FL
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business outlook

      Pros

Pros: Decent atmosphere. If you enjoy the service industry, you will enjoy this job. If you do not like the service industry, stay away! If you ever get promoted, you will eventually make decent money,

      Cons

Cons: Pay evaluations are the worst out of any job I've ever had. It went from bi-annual to annual evaluations. I received a $1.25 raise for the entire year, it was quite honestly the biggest slap in the face I've ever gotten in my life. Publix used to be a great company and now it has been poisoned by corporate greed. If you ever do finally get promoted, beware because the initial pay raise for an assistant manager is $0.50 and that is the most insane thing I have ever heard of.
