Pros
- New cool modern office with monitors on every desk in the hotdesking area
- Pretty well stocked pantry with free canned and packet drinks along with cup noodles and biscuits (nice coffee machine if you drink coffee)
- Monthly mobile and flexi allowance
- Can ballot for monthly movie and zoo tickets
Cons
TLDR, you are expected to go at 300km/hr but they give you a vehicle that can go max at 200km/hr with a mediocre salary.
First review on glassdoor so here goes and hope this helps. I was utterly unlucky to have a very unfortunate experience but hopefully this doesn't happen to you.
This depends on your team/dept but many experience the following
- Everyone OT almost everyday if not everyday, messages are sent out of working hours but you are mid-key expected to reply promptly...
- Staff mentions retention bonus...
- Full-time employees have to do timesheet every month, basically what are you working on everyday?
- You are entitled to claim time off but if your manager and director are not claiming it, will you do it? Since the manager will be approving it, it will be an awkward position. This goes for other things as well such as transport claims.
- You might not work from home at all and have to fully work from office. Your office is dependant on where you are assigned to, so might be at a healthcare facility
- Laptops are running on intel i5 and super laggy & excel always have problems & takes literally a few minutes to an hour to open excel file depending on file size, no I am not exaggerating, this is literally a fact & takes a few minutes to sign in and logon to the laptop & takes a few minutes to 10 mins to connect the wifi via VPN
- Very inefficient due to the mediocre hardware situation which is very ironic considering it is a 'tech' company (intel i5 was released in 2009...)
- Retention rate is quite high as many (>50 pax) left the same day as me... (not sure if a project ended but I heard many tendered?)
The following is based more on my personal experience about the 'toxic' culture.
- You are 'expected' to work during your personal time to get tasks done on-time even though you have plenty of other work. Rush to wait, wait to rush?
- Majority of the staff are >35 yrs old and/or have worked here for a long time so some of them have a pretty backwards mentality and an arrogant attitude (think that they are always right and not very open to new stuff)
- Some of them are not very professional, patient, friendly and helpful, makes job tough esp when they biased. Unfortunately, some of them gossip and talk bad about other people.
- You are 'expected' to kinda know everything by yourself with minimal to no guidance even though you are new or experienced. Everyone is busy so they don't really have time to help you.
- Exit interview is just a formality and a waste of time as HR does not care.
- Promotions are dependant on a 'quota' so good luck!
- You may be asked to contribute your personal money to company events.
- You may be asked to do ridiculous tasks way outside of your job scope.
- For muslims fasting, you may not get to knock off early if you work during lunch.
