What is the hiring process like at UCSF Health?

      Specimen contamination???

      Pros

      Seemed organized and very friendly

      Cons

After I was offered the job and gave notice at my old job they ghosted me. Supposedly during the onboarding process my urine specimen was contaminated along with a few other people. They were supposed to contact me to retest and start at a later date. I never heard from them.

      Pros

They pay incredibly well and allow for flexibility in some administrative positions.

      Cons

UCSF is provider-driven and living in the 1990s. They say that they use Lean and Kata but they don't do it correctly, and they also don't have the structure for these systems to work in due to the top down leadership structure. We got a new CEO and things have gone downhill since then. Layoffs and hiring freezes happened, then consolidating departments (layoffs but didn't want to call it that again) while we get emails every other day that a brand new C-suite title has been created and they have brought a Yes-man in to placate the demands of the top down leadership. Now everyone is incredibly short staffed and expected to 'get our numbers up'; yes, not take better care of our patients, but make us more money. I fear these golden handcuffs but am constantly seeking another opportunity. Everyone is scared, no one will speak up or speak their minds, true change cannot happen because there is no data structure to the entire institution. Process measures are impossible to obtain and sustainment never happens due to the travelers and the demands of the higher-ups. In every meeting I've ever been in with our C-suite and upper management (which is at least once a week or more) they will push their solutions at teams and bully them into doing what they want. It's a constant state of fire-fighting and if you don't abide, there's always the sense of 'or else' ... what a shame that this hospital has good rankings and marks. It is not at all representative of what is actually happening here. I feel bad for any patient who has to come through our doors.
