What is the salary like at Veho (CO)?

      Pros

Great benefits, great pay, great people

      Cons

      Classic startup woes (i.e. layoffs)

Flexibility in hours, but low pay for contract drivers

      Business outlook

      Pros

You decide your own hours and routes.

      Cons

if you are a contract driver for them, once you factor in 1099 taxes, fuel, and wear and tear on your vehicle, you are taking home about six dollars per hour. Thats not just my situation. I have run the numbers. The self employment tax KILLS your profits. Doesnt matter if you work a little or a lot. You wil just earn more hours at about six bucks a piece. This is why they hire contract drivers. They are allowed to pay less than minimum wage and well below what a driver should be making.

Buggy app, drivers are taken advantage of

      Delivery driver contractor
      Current freelancer
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business outlook

      Pros

Payouts twice a week and picking your own schedule.

      Cons

The pay is very low considering your own vehicle expenses (~$15/hr BEFORE expenses or taxes), so it's only worth picking up a route when they bump the pay on busy days (~$20-22hr BEFORE expenses or taxes). The constant stopping and going is very rough on your vehicle. You need to hustle to actually finish the route on time with pretty much no breaks. The buggy app eats into your time causing frustration (pictures not uploading, app constantly crashing forcing you to redo all the steps). They require you to take a picture of the house street number (building# and unit# for apartments) for each delivery which also feels like a waste of time. When I started with Veho you could see fairly accurately where you would be delivering as they showed a heatmap. After doing some deliveries to certain areas you figured out which areas were more difficult then others. Instead of veho addressing difficult delivery areas after many complaints they restricted information in route selection and changed from a heatmap to a general outline that encompassed 25% of the metro area, so you had no idea where you'd be delivering. This was an obvious tactic to take advantage of drivers and force them to do a difficult route. They only show the heatmap now when they need drivers the morning of a busy day. Gated apartments/communities are extremely stressful to deal with as there is usually no access instructions from the customer, and if you can't access the delivery location you have to take the package all the way back to the warehouse, which you are not compensated for at all.

      Horrible Company

      Driver
      Current employee
      Jacksonville, FL
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business outlook

      Pros

Warehouse personnel are friendly and helpful

      Cons

I stuck it out with this shister company for 10 routes and delivered more than 368 packages ( most were very heavy meal boxes like Factor and Hello Fresh) to homes, apartments ( often on the 3rd floor w no elevator), apartments with inaccurate gate codes, no building numbers and locked pkg drops w no key codes ( becoming a wild goose chase adding unnecessary time ) or pkgs addressed to closed businesses that can’t be delivered, requiring calls to useless support folks, and returns to the warehouse by a certain time or get penalized. The only positive element of VEHO are the warehouse employees where drivers pick up their packages to deliver. They are friendly and very helpful especially when new to the gig. Everything after that is all negative from the absurd estimation of route time hours and pay attached to that route. One can take the estimated hours given and double or triple them…….and the pay then becomes less than $10 an hour and of course out of that comes the cost of gas and wear and tear on one’s car. This low pay also doesn’t include the 30-40 minutes at the start scanning the packages & loading them in some organized fashion in your car around the route stops in the awful heat of the warehouse. Most of the time, the logistics are fairly accurate but 9 of the 10 routes were 30- 50+ miles away ……and of course one has to get home too. The aforementioned support is awful……and most of the time one receives pat AI responses and tossed around to multiple support folks and ALL done by text messages. Meanwhile, the driver cannot continue the route until that particular problem is solved. The last route I ever did for Veho, the support or lack thereof added more than an hour of wasted time sitting and waiting for help. The last couple of routes I did involved a supervisor who recommended I file a fare review because the routes were so underestimated and so much time wasted by support. When I filed them 1 week apart, there was a disclaimer that the "response could take UP to 10 days". The first claim was filed 6 weeks ago and the second one, 5 weeks ago……..and still no courtesy of a response, must less any fare compensation! This company is just plain awful and they are not motivated to change a thing because drivers/warm bodies come and go! The turnover must be an astonishing number! At the end of the day, you can make more money slinging burgers at McDonalds and not spend it all on gas for your car!

Good to learn, but not to grow your career

      Senior operations manager
      Current employee
      New York, NY
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business outlook

      Pros

      - Lower level employees have the ability to drive a lot of impact for the size of the company - Lots of very smart, driven people within the company (especially in middle-management) - Benefits (including unlimited PTO) are solid enough - Pay is competitive to similar positions at other startups - Company is well-funded and positioned to succeed in the medium-term future. - Hours tend to be pretty manageable for a startup. Usually 50-60 hours MAX.

      Cons

      - No clear path to grow your career. Barely promote from within and instead prefer to source "experts" from outside the company. - Equity package for anyone that got in post-Series B doesn't feel super valuable given high valuation. - Executive leadership changes priorities constantly. Feels like always treading water vs making strides toward a better product.
