      Senior Technical Project Manager Interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at ACE Cash Express (Dallas, TX) in Feb 2018

      Interview

I initially received a call from a Sr. VP stating that he wanted to speak with me about this position on his team. I called him the next day and left a voicemail. However, instead of receiving a return call from the Sr. VP, I instead received an email from one of the internal recruiters requesting that I set up a call with him to discuss this position and other similar positions that were open. Unfortunately, the recruiter was almost 10 min. late to the call, stated that the Sr. VP "jumped the gun" in contacting me and that this should have been handled by the recruiter. He began with the standard question of asking me about myself and then proceeded to monopolize the entire conversation with extensive requirements that weren't found anywhere on the written job requisition. When I tried to interject, he rudely interrupted with a sarcastic "may I finish?" . As the discussion progressed, the recruiter insisted on "instructing me" on tech and project management processes which I already knew very well. When I mentioned to him that the written job requisition did not list the requirements he was stating and that his "instruction" was coming across as being very condescending, he shifted topics. The recruiter stated that there were already two candidates who were scheduled for their final interviews for the position later in the week (something you should never tell a candidate). Also, he made a false assumption that I wouldn't want the role anyway since it was paying only a certain wage range that he thought I wouldn't accept (age bias) without even asking me what my salary requirement was. When I had expressed concern about his assumption, he quickly moved to the end of the interview with "I'll keep you in mind for future opportunities". Overall, I have never had a phone interview which was so unprofessional and condescending.
