      Full-stack Developer (front-end) Interview

      1 Dec 2023
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Mississauga, ON
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Absorb Software (Mississauga, ON) in Nov 2023

      Interview

Update Dec. 4th: I received a call from a different Absorb recruiter explaining the situation. The recruiter I had spoken to previously was a junior who had mixed up the currently-active role with an old one. The current recruiter apologized for the mistake graciously and I was impressed with how this was handled. A sincere thank you for that. I can't update the overall experience rating on Glassdoor, but given today's conversation with the recruiter, I would update it to neutral. Wishing you good luck finding your candidate. ---- I was contacted by one of Absorb's recruiters through LinkedIn's direct messages for a screening call for the role. The role's minimum and preferred qualifications were 3+ years of Javascript/Typescript, React, NodeJs, REST API, build tools among other front-end technologies and interpersonal skills. The screening call went well and I felt the conversation was positive. I was asked for a copy of my resume so that it can be forwarded to the hiring manager, which I shared after the call. I got the rejection a couple of days later citing that they want a mid-to-senior skill level on Angular, C#, and .NET. No where in the shared role's description does it mention Angular. C# and .NET are listed as part of the tech stack they use but are neither required nor preferred. I have already thanked the recruiter and told them that if that's what you're looking for, then you shouldn't lead with a role description that looks like the one shared because it's a waste of applicants' time. Further, when I looked up the company's LinkedIn jobs section and Career site, no where was this role advertised as was shared by the recruiter. The closest role with the same title required 5+ years and a focus on C# and .NET. On LinkedIn, the recruiter is definitely listed as an employee of this company so i don't think it was a fake account. I'm confused as to what this whole interaction was supposed to be.
