"Senior" recruiter was very bland and had zero personality, just asked the questions and moved on. She asked what salary i wanted and when i asked for a range she said they don't do ranges and wouldn't tell me the pay. She was being very weird playing games. Don't ask to call if you're not really interested. This company will waste your time.
I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Academy Sports + Outdoors (Katy, TX)
Interview
Two, one hour long each panel interviews. Be prepared to ask for each individual's title as they do not offer that up during their introductions nor do they hand out business cards. The panels were a mix of experienced and inexperienced associates. Most of the questions were right out of the textbook of "Interviewing 101" which in an open dialogue of panel interviewing was very disappointing. There was an obvious lack of preparation on their part in terms of who would lead the discussion and which role each of the four interviewers would play. Overall interview process was less than average at best. Their recruiting team is well behind in standards of how they attract talent. Their growth as a company will depend on the strength of their HR team and at this point through my experience, I would give that pyramid a grade of 'C-' at best. Disappointing experience overall.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
With no HR representation in the group panel interviews, and in front of potential and probable future peers, one individual asked what my current salary was??? Extremely awkward and inappropriate in that setting. Those conversations had been had during the initial phone screens and secondary interviews.
