      Events Assistant Interview

      15 Aug 2017
      Anonymous employee
      Cardiff, Wales
      Accepted offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Alpha Innova (Cardiff, Wales) in Aug 2017

      Interview

This is a commission based sales role. In no way is this transparent and everything about the process seemed off. Some of the reviews on here are spot on and the positive ones are clearly written by some of the sales team, I feel like the whole process is fixed to make you feel special and pull the wool over your eyes. Making it seem like theres such high competition for the role, which they contradict as they kept saying they want to expand and that they have so many roles to offer and that the process of progressing is so quick as they really are eager to get people into these many management roles they have. The unrealistic expectations says it all, claiming that you could be in a management role in just 8-10 months. I was invited to a meet and greet day the next day after my initial interview and was told I would meet with the team and see what they do etc, I had a really uneasy feeling that it was all too good to be true from the interview as it was over so quick which I think was to avoid you asking any questions and it seemed too good to be true (it is). Agree with someone else comment about the weird cheering and loud music from the other room which was quite clearly done so that the interviewees think it's a great and exciting place/ team to work with. They then pair you up with a team leader, mine was extremely chatty and bubbly and enthusiastic which actually came across as fake and scripted. They kept repeating things such as it was great to get to this stage and there's so much room so quick progression within the company. They then take you to a different city, I can see on here someone was taken to Bristol in my case it was Swansea (which they do not tell you until you leaving the building) to their 'events space' which was actually a stand a member of the team had brought along with us to set up outside a shopping centre to try to get people to give to charity. I kept trying to ask questions on the train down there but they were dodged and told we would have a full break down of the business plan later on, yet most jobs are upfront and tell you what they role involves. I left pretty quickly after directly asking it was a purely a commission based role in which case they couldn't actually lie. Theres, loads more I could say but read the other reviews. One MASSIVE point I would like to make is that there in two other companies advertising similar roles yet all the interviewees are going the the same process and I guess taken off to different cities, if you look on the Alpha Innova website you can see pictures from the Christmas party - go to Blu Collabs website and those same photos are being used to pretend they are from different events such as industry awards (just look). The interview I went with was actually for Blu Collab but I was also supposed to have one with A. Innova after applying to different ads, when I realised it was all in the same office I realised something wasn't adding up. Please do not waste your time, I'm shocked and outraged at how coxed the whole thing is! The 'team leaders' are also on commission. The whole thing screams dodgy even the fact you can make commission off signing up people to a charity ?! I could honestly go on and on with different alarm bells throughout the process. Do your research before you go for a role at any of the companies under that roof. I'm sorry to say this was a complete waste of time and I should of asked more questions before agreeing to the second part of the interview.
