I applied to an ad that was listed on Craigslist. I received a call from a recruiter wanting to talk to me about the position. She said I seemed like a great fit and scheduled for me to meet with the Manager/CEO. The recruiter emailed me instructions on what to bring and where the office was located. The office was located in a large building that is presumably occupied by other companies, as well. When I arrived at the office, I was confused by the fact that instead of “Altair”, the sign said “Brinley Consulting”. I was super confused and had to check the emailed instructions again. Finally, I walked in and the girl at the counter asked “Are you here to see (Manager’s Name)”? I told her yes so she reassured me I was in the right place. There was already a woman already there waiting to be seen. She went in for her interview and was out within about 10 minutes at the most.
I met with the Manager and she seemed really great. She emphasized that they really wanted the company to have a young and fun atmosphere and that this office was new and really wanted to get the ball rolling on new hires for the Atlanta location. Ultimately, she decided she wanted to meet again for a final interview, but the kicker was, she wanted me to come in the very next day.
I went in and the lobby was packed with at least 10-15 people coming for interviews. I almost left because I was very unsure of what was going on. I was first lead into a room with a few people. They explained they were all from Michigan and had to move to the Atlanta Area to help facilitate the growth of the new location. They talked to me about marketing and sales and etc. which I thought was weird because I was interviewing for a recruiter position. They then talked to me about pop culture and things of that sort. They were nice, nonetheless.
Then, I was asked to go back to the lobby where I was approached by an associate who was also originally from Michigan who started asking me questions about marketing and consulting. Finally, after close to an hour of being there, I met with the Manager. She showed me a weird PowerPoint presentation about my potential job and how much money I could potentially make depending on the number of leads I was to make and etc. It seemed like more a sales position and I was left extremely puzzled. They heavily emphasis the company trips that are given to top performers.
I was contacted a week or so later to say I did not get the “recruiter” position but they asked if I would like to come back out the following day to interview as a consulting/sales rep. I quickly declined.
I’m not sure if I was interviewing with Altair Business Consulting or Brinley Consulting, but I’d never work there. If you try calling the numbers that are listed for them online via google, one doesn’t work and the other says it is not a working number at all.
