Promising, but also very disheartening. I was so excited at the possibility of working with this company when an internal peer of mine referred me to it. Seriously it was my dream job.
The regional recruiter, Missy, solidified it for me after our chat, too. She was absolutely amazing. Extremely friendly, professional, and passionate about AS. 2nd interview with DM was another story.
She called 25 mins late, never acknowledged or apologized for it either. After running through my work history, she seemed almost combative and interrupted me almost every time I answered her questions if she wasn't completely ignoring me when I spoke. At several points in the interview she'd ask me a question to an answer I had just given her. Her dog kept barking in the background, and at one point she even put the phone close enough to where I could hear it growl at me.
When she opened it up for me to ask her Qs, and I did, she made sure I heard her very frustrated sigh over the phone as we. She was extremely rude, unprepared, and unprofessional.
After such a perplexing experience, I looked the DM up on indeed and discovered I had twice the experience she did and it all clicked. I guess I should have never expressed interest in becoming a DM.
I believe it is our responsibility as leaders to treat everyone with respect and keep at the forefront that we serve as brand reps-especially during the interview process. Sadly, I see the company through a much different POV and so do many of my peers in the industry after sharing this with them.
Altar'd State has so many positive and uplifting attributes that they should truly invest in hiring the right talent and training it before they set their sights on expansion. DMs like the one I spoke to could really undermine their mission to inspire and empower and give creative professionals like me the wrong impression.
I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Altar'd State (East Rutherford, NJ) in Mar 2021
Interview
I had 2 interviews before being ghosted. I had been in communication with the company off and on for months. I had 2 interviews the 1st being a simple phone screening and the 2nd a zoom call. Everything seemed to go well, I was told I should have an answer in 2 weeks. 6 weeks later they never followed up or answered my calls or emails.
