I interviewed at American Electric Power (Ohio City, OH)
Interview
I applied online, very fast to respond. First was a phone screen with HR, then a second phone screen with team leadership. They were very considerate of scheduling interview times.
I applied online. I interviewed at American Electric Power
Interview
Interviewed with HR. Was told they were still interviewing and the company would be in touch in about a week. No response in a week. Followed up with HR contact. About a week later she responded and said the selection process had been delayed. Then, out of the blue I was contacted by someone in HR asking about availability for interviews.
I Interviewed with six people -- four on one video call. That was like an interrogation because they had a scripted set of questions and asked them one question after another. I responded using the STAR interview method. At the end of the interview, I had an opportunity to ask two questions before the interviewed ended and they said they had to go and had no additional time for questions from me.
Following the interviews, I sent seven emails (including the HR person). Each was personalized to the individual and I included questions based on their role that I wanted to learn more about. I also asked about the next steps in the process. No response from anyone.
A week went by. Crickets.
I emailed the hiring manager (a senior leader) and HR. The hiring manager responded and said they were speaking with other candidates and wanted to see how those played out before eliminating me from consideration. (But never bothered to communicate with me.)
I responded and asked for constructive insight to help for future interviews. The hiring manager dodged the question and provided nothing of value to help.
