I recently participated in the interview process with Avelios Medical and was left extremely disappointed by the overall experience.
About a week after applying, I was contacted by HR and invited to an initial screening interview. The conversation itself was standard and went smoothly. The next day, I received a take-home assignment with a one-week deadline.
The problem is that the assignment was far from reasonable for an unpaid task. The scope was very large, and I ended up spending around 26 hours of my personal time completing it. Despite that, I made a serious effort and delivered a high-quality solution.
I submitted the assignment after 6 days and immediately followed up with HR to confirm the submission and express my interest in the next steps. From that moment on - complete silence. I followed up again 7 days later, and then once more 20 days after the submission.
Despite these multiple follow-ups, I never received any response at all - not even a brief acknowledgment, a rejection, or short feedback on the assignment.
I find this behavior deeply disrespectful to the candidate’s time and effort. Asking candidates to invest 20–30 hours of unpaid work and then simply ignoring them is not just unprofessional, it shows a complete lack of respect for people’s time and effort.
This is not a minor communication issue, it reflects very poorly on the company’s hiring culture.
Being ignored entirely after such a significant time investment was frustrating and frankly unacceptable. Based on this experience, I would not apply to this company again and would not recommend this interview process to others.
