      Applications Support Analyst Interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Aya Healthcare

      Interview

A corporate recruiter at Aya Healthcare reached out to me on LinkedIn, inviting me to apply for a support role within their IT department. I was eager to learn more about the role so I filled out their application. I then received an email from the recruiter with a subject line that read "Please complete your Aya Healthcare Application". I was a bit confused at first until I read "We are excited to invite you to take our Predictive Index (PI) Assessment". The email went on to say "this tool helps us make sure there's a good fit for both the company and the candidate". So I took the assessment which amounted to two lists: the first was a list of adjectives that "best describe how you think others see you", followed by the same list of adjectives that "best describe how you see yourself". The next day, I received a stock email response that said "Thank you so much for completing the Predictive Index Assessment. We know behavioral assessments can be stressful and we really appreciate the time you took to do it. Unfortunately, after reviewing your PI results and our current need, we have decided that this is not the best match. We wish you nothing but the best with your job search." My first thought was what just happened? What results are they talking about? There was no mention of my application, or my 14 LinkedIn recommendations, or my work experience, skills and accomplishments? Based on the brevity of the recruiter's email reply, I realized they were using this predictive index tool to weed out those job candidates that didn't jive with their company culture. I felt jilted that a company would think it's a good practice to make hiring decisions based on a 2-question test that pigeonholes candidates into one of 16 possible personality types. How lazy and callous a method of weeding out potentially great hires! Think me a disgruntled candidate who didn't get selected if you like, but what I'm most disappointed about is the fact that I never learned my assessment results. Had I known before I took the assessment that they had no intention of sharing the results with me, I never would have agreed to take it in the first place. I have reached out to the company that hosts this tool, The Predictive Index, but their privacy policies do not allow them to share the test results, and all attempts to reach out to the company has fallen on deaf ears. A plea to Aya Healthcare Management: if you expect job candidates to take this Predictive Index Assessment, then please follow best practices by sharing the test results, whether or not they were selected to move on.

I was never interviewed because I "failed" their PI assessment..

We appreciate your feedback about the interview experience and apologize it wasn't a positive one. Through years of adjusting our hiring process, we've learned that the PI does a good job of helping us determine whether or not a certain department/role is a good fit for someone. In the past, we were lenient with the PI assessment results and our turnover rate dramatically increased, which also affected employee morale. Since then, we’ve used the PI to ensure we’re putting people in a position where they’ll succeed. Our turnover rate remains very low (especially in the industry), and while this is likely due to a number of factors, we know our odds of hiring employees who will succeed is significantly better because of our in-depth assessment of PI results.
