I cleared the first-round interview and also completed the second round, which seemed positive to me—during the discussion, they even mentioned that the third round would be an in-person interview at their location. I waited for four weeks and followed up 3–4 times. Eventually, I received a direct email stating that the in-person interview (which they referred to as the third round) was not successful, as they had selected another candidate who more closely matched their requirements.
My confusion is that I was never actually invited for or attended the third-round interview. So receiving a rejection for something that never took place made me feel like the whole process might not have been genuine.
