I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Bloomberg in Dec 2012
Interview
HR replied with a poorly-formatted template email to arrange my phone screen date and time (my first and last names were reverse, with a comma separating them); Just to confirm it wasn't some kind of spam, I called the HR person named in the email who initially didn't know who I was, then looked at his email and figured it out, and repeated the request in the email template. He sounded rather out of it, and I thought perhaps he was hungover.
A week later, my phone screen was scheduled. The interviewer was friendly if not outgoing, and explained very briefly the details of the position. There were many legacy components that needed support, particularly with regard to authentication, and he confided that his team and several others often had conflicts over responsibility for certain roles, such as maintaining certificate authorities, issuing certificates, and other credential-related roles. After we discussed some of the technical questions, we spoke also briefly about general computer- and network-security related things.
A week later, HR sent another template email with a rejection.
