I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Bombas in Feb 2020
Interview
I applied online and was contacted a couple of days later to schedule a phone interview with HR. Unfortunately my interaction with HR left me feeling less interested and really disappointed in the company after speaking with them. They were 10 minutes late for the call (without a heads up) and it was clear that this person was reading their questions off of a sheet- they did not engage in the conversation, it was like speaking to a robot. The first thing I was asked was "What salary are you expecting? Because if we're not on the same page, we won't be going any further from here."
I'm sorry, couldn't that question have been asked over an email prior to scheduling a phone interview? For a company that is so focused on social impact and giving back, I expected more of a “human side” from them. They seem to have a ton of potential, however they seem a bit disorganized and unfortunately I don't feel they have the best HR staff representing the brand.

Interview
Great overall vibe on the process and the team.
I applied online on LinkedIn, and recruiter reached out to schedule a call. The recruiter had a very positive vibe and went over logistical questions and shared overview of the company and role.
The overall process included a 2 part takehome exercise on management and leadership philosophy, technical conversations with senior and staff engineers, collaboration and partnership with product owner, and qualitative questions on my experience of leadership, engineering, people's management.

Interview
Torrey, the recruiter, is fabulous. He made sure I was informed every step of the way on next steps and was a pleasure to speak to. The overall interview process however, was bizarre. Each person I interviewed with seemed completely disinterested, and clearly looking at another tab/screen while I was speaking. I was initially rejected for the role, then brought back into the fold to complete a project. I then met team members in the office, only to be rejected a week later. In my experience, being invited into the office to meet people is usually a formality, so I was surprised to learn I was not being considered for the role after being brought back in. Overall, the process took 4+ months. The process could have been shortened to 2 weeks, plus compensation for free work like other startups of similar size and valuation. I did not receive feedback on the project.
