I was approached directly by a recruiter from [Company Name], who stated that the company was looking for someone with my skills and assured me that they could beat my current package. Based on this assurance, I progressed through three interviews, including a final in-person interview at their Hemel Hempstead office, which required a 7-hour round trip and a day off work.
After being told I had excelled in all three interviews, I was surprised to receive an offer that was below my current package. When I raised this with the hiring manager, he admitted that such an assurance should not have been made. The recruiter later confirmed that the agreed package had been discussed upfront with the hiring manager, which makes the outcome even more frustrating.
I’m now out of pocket for travel and parking expenses, and the time and effort I put into the process feel completely undervalued. This experience highlighted a concerning lack of alignment between the recruitment team and the hiring manager, as well as poor communication and follow-through.
If you’re considering applying here, I’d advise seeking clarity on compensation early on and ensuring that any assurances made by the recruiter are backed up in writing.
