The hiring process was extremely informal. The CEO walked in on the interview with the incumbent and me saying "it would save time if they just did it together." It made for an awkward introduction. The CEO's diction was abrupt but the bond between the incumbent and the CEO appeared to be strong, which made me think it must be able to work. The HR coordinator made mention that the CEO buys coffee for "the girls" every morning, to which John replied "yea they're always spending my money." I immediately felt a perception of the employer/employee relationship here that I didn't like, but the bond between the incumbent and the CEO appeared to be genuine and as this was my direct report I thought I could maneuver through it.
