I had an interview for a position of Lifestyle Manager in Tokyo. I was interviewed in February 2024, During the interview, I was asked in Japanese: "How old are you?"
It was shocking to me and I was so embarrassed, since I have never been asked about my age in any job interviews in the past.
As far as I understand, diversity, including age, is highly valued in their company culture.
In addition to that, this position doesn't require any age restriction, according to the job description.
Given that they asked about the interviewee's age during the interview, it can be interpreted that there might be age discrimination in the Cathay Pacific company culture, at least in the interview process.
That was such a disappointing experience.
