Unclear interview process for an iOS position
- I applied for an iOS developer position at this company and the process raised several concerns.
- The first contact happened about two months after my application. There were two interviews (HR and technical), but the questions were mostly about my previous experience, without any meaningful technical or architectural discussion.
- During one of the interviews it became clear that the discussion was being conducted by someone whose primary background appeared to be Android development rather than iOS. Because of this, the conversation about my project’s architecture remained quite superficial, and at several points the company’s internal repository had to be opened during the interview to check basic details about the iOS project.
- After the interviews I was asked to complete a take-home assignment, which I spent about a week implementing carefully (architecture, tests, etc.). However, the feedback I later received suggested that the project may not have been run or reviewed in depth, despite clear instructions in the README (for example, the feedback mentioned that the tests could not be run).
- Later I spoke with two other developers who completed similar assignments for the same role. They also invested significant time and received rejections.
Overall, the process felt poorly organized and not very transparent.
