CSAP - Associate Systems Engineer (ASE) Interview - Sweden Interview

      1 Jun 2014
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Stockholm, Stockholm
      Declined offer
      Positive experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Cisco (Stockholm, Stockholm) in Apr 2014

      Interview

I got a lots of help from Glassdoor during my interview process, so I want to contribute back. I applied online through Cisco's website. Interview Details: Round 1: CV Screening & Prescreen phone interview Round 2: Phone interview Basic HR questions, some technical questions such as; how a router differ from a switch, explain how a mobile works. Got notified after 1 day that I made it to the next stage. Round 3: 2-min video. Describe how the future workspace looks like to you? Be confident, talk clearly, make it easy to follow. Used my technical skills to describe my vision. Good to include Cisco current projects, such as cloud, IoE etc. After one week, i got notified that I made it to the final stage. Round 4 ( Final stage) : Assessment day In my case, my Assessment center was in Stockholm, Sweden. All the expenses will be taken care of by Cisco. Totally 9 candidates (heard that the total applicants were around 600) made it to the final stage (3 from Sweden, 3 from Denmark and 3 from Norway). In the end, one from each country (total 3 candidates) made it. The background of each candidates was different. A. Technical Assessment Nothing to worry about in my opinion. Materials were handed out 1-2 weeks up-front. Exam was based on Multiple-choice. B. Interview Standard interview with managers. Nothing to worry about. Standard questions such as; good/bad skills, where do you see yourself in 5 yrs etc. C. Presentation 10 min presentation. You get your subject 2 weeks upfront (in my case: The internet of Everything). The managers will look at their phone, pretend to not be interested, to see if you can handle these kind of situations. I used the whiteborad to simplify my presentation. Keep the time in mind. D. Role-Play Most difficult. Role-play with a specific client with a time limit, 30 min. You get a lot of information 2 weeks upfront. Encourage to ask the relevant question to resolve the client needs and provide Cisco solutions. The Client will try to make you explain things on the whiteboard. Don't force it if you don't know the answer. In my opinon preparation is key to success. Try to relax, talk clearly and schedule a next meeting to "close" the deal. Keep the time in mind. B, C and D are performed individual with two managers. Finally, try to be yourself and relax. Prepare as much as you can and even if you don't get the position, it will be a great experience.
