The company is hiring it's first user researcher. The interview process was very transparent. I had a call with the recruiter who asked me some basic questions about my experience. It was quite clear from the job description and our conversation that the company does not know what a user researcher does. They expect you to produce new research results every day. That's not what research is and would really create a lot of noise that is not actionable. It seems they also prefer for researchers to have design experience. The interview also has a live research activity, where they give you some interviews to watch and you tease our the insights and recommendations in real time while the director of product observes. It seems to me that they aren't interested in real research they just want someone that can do quick usability studies. The entire interview process consists of 5 rounds: - Interview with recruiter. - Screener with hiring manager, VP of Product. - Live research activity with Senior Director of Product. - Take home assessment. - Interview with director of product and designer.
