I applied through a recruiter. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Common (New York, NY) in Feb 2020
Interview
The initial phone screen with engineering manager was fantastic! I felt comfortable and learned a ton about exactly were the company wants to go in the future. I got very good vibes from the engineering manager.
There are three options for next steps depending on your skills: frontend, backend or full-stack engineer. For the first two (frontend & backend), you will have a technical phone screen with an engineer. For full-stack engineer, you have a timed take home assignment. I selected full-stack engineer. I recommend having both your frontend and backend environment set up properly before you start because it is timed. The project is fairly simple. You need to build an autocomplete search input that displays data once selected. The data is all fetched from external API. After you complete it, you send the take home assignment back with explanations about your choices.
Overall, I had a good experience.
