      Customer Service Interview

      15 Oct 2015
      Anonymous employee
      Newcastle upon Tyne, England
      Accepted offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at Complete One (Newcastle upon Tyne, England) in Oct 2015

      Interview

The whole process was odd even before the interview! Didn't even apply for a job with Complete One, I uploaded my CV to totaljobs for completely different job, got an email 2 hours later saying 'your skills match our opportunities - get in touch', then half an hour later had a phone call inviting me to an interview the following day, all happened really quickly. Didn't even know what job role the interview was for!! I checked on glassdoor immediately and knew I needed to be careful. Found their job advert on another website and realised it's 'self-employed and paid on commission only for their completed sales', didn't get told anything like that on the phone and e-mail. Turned up the following day, sat in the reception room with at least 12 other people also waiting to be interviewed by Complete One but also a couple of other companies, waited almost an hour before it was finally my turn, not even an apology about the long wait! The interview was short probably around 10-15 minutes instead of 25-35 minutes. Asked a few simple questions (see below). They said they are interviewing 30 people which will narrow down to 5 and these people will be invited back to observe another rep as soon as possible (the follow day!), basically stand around all day to watch. I asked about the self-employed and commission only thing but they kept saying I will find out more if I get invited back for the observation day. Apparently they had a few more people to interview before making a decision but I had a phone call an hour later saying they were pleased with my interview and invited me back the following day to 'observe' (but I really didn't even say anything that would make it a 'great interview'), anyway I politely declined the offer and they hung up straight away. It just didn't seem right with how fast it all happened, I don't think they really care who the interviewed really, they just needed desperate young people to work as free labour. Forgot to mention, while waiting around for my interview, the girl at reception rung up at least 5 other people inviting them for interview the next day while the girl they did the interview said they were wrapping up the interview process today? All seemed very odd.

Hi, We appreciate your feedback. We apologise that you were kept waiting. While we endeavour to keep all appointments running on time, unfortunately some days events occur which are out with our control, and this delays the interview process. We are disappointed to hear that that nobody apologised to you for your wait, this is something we will address. It should have been explained to you on the phone and in the corresponding email that the initial interview is relatively short and informal. It is an opportunity for us to meet applicants in person, learn more about their work history, transferable skills and goals for their future. It allows us to explain what we do, the clients we work with and where they could fit in. We apologise if you were mis-informed and were expecting something else. We have a very fast paced recruitment process and therefore it is normal for us to conduct observation days promptly after the initial interviews. We are disappointed you declined the opportunity to attend an observation day as you would have gained a thorough insight into what we do. Best of luck in the future.
