      Research Scientist, Process Simulation Interview

      9 Feb 2019
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Tumwater, WA
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Corning (Tumwater, WA)

      Interview

The process took about two months from the first screening phone call to the onsite interview. The recruiter was very professional and helpful, it was a pleasure to talk with. About four weeks later, the hiring manager interviewed me by phone and it was a positive interview which ended up by inviting me to the company in Corning NY. I was asked to prepare a 45 minutes presentation to show the audience my education, skills, experience and some of my previous projects, that followed up by meeting 6 different interviews by different groups which was TOO much. Four of those groups were very clear in their questions but the other two groups were VERY overwhelmed, as one of the groups didn’t have enough Statistical knowledge but they asked lots of illogical questions, but the the advanced machine learning group was the strangest group I have ever interviewed by, because one of them was offensive and the another person was setting with his laptop searching for some online Machine learning questions to ask me. Honestly, I really disappointed from that strange and OVER grouped interviews, also Corning seems a very small town with only one employer which can make the life and opportunities there very limited. During the interview I was just thinking to leave especially when I met the “advanced” machine learning group.
