I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Crowe LLP (Sherman Oaks, CA) in Oct 2017
Interview
An evening playing TT with the staff and partners of the hiring office + 2-3 partner interviews next day with an office visit and lunch. No behavioral questions with in any of the interviews. Just discusssing your background. A group of about 10 candidates were interviewed. You have to wait in a board room with the group and partners come over to accompany you to their office for the interview. Very freindly and easy-going people. However, interview process is highly politicized and they make no effort to make it look democratic and merit-based. Before the interviews started, I was walking along the passage towards the board room and one of the partners just itercepted the other student with me (who was from Berkely or UCLA) and talk her to come talk with her outside the interview process. If you are from a small regional school or a colored person / minority, forget it! The office is Sherman Oaks is almost exclusively white and Jewish with few Asians and Hispanics here and there. Didn't see a single African-American employee during the office visit and presentations. By the time you go for the office interviews, they have already made up their mind about whom to hire and the interviews is a total sham to make it look as if they gave everyone an equal opportunity. Worse of all, when the lead partner gave the welcome speech, he forgot to mention every school other than UCLA, USC and Berkeley. He was totally unaware that there were students from state universities.
