After having seen a job pop up several times in the space of 2 years and having heard of others applying I was interested to find out about this opportunity. I sent a CV showing current work situation and was met by a barrage of unprofessionalism which started with the often quoted “here at DFYNE we do things differently”.
From unannounced phone calls from random mobile numbers in the middle of a working day to returning said calls to be told nobody takes called after 4pm.
Three different staff contacted me in a very short time , nobody introduced themselves, nobody communicated why they got in touch and not the person previously.
A task was given to edit a bunch of badly taken photographs with terrible ISO settings and complete lack of consistency. No brief was given. The brief given to the original photographer was not disclosed. Absolutely no guidance, no meaningful input, even after asking for specific brief. An incredibly unprofessional waste of time. I know of at least 4 other photographers who have taken part and this seems to be the standard “process”. They just pass on other photographers raw files and ask you to edit them without a brief of what anyone is trying to achieve with these random images (there were 3 different locations, 5 different visual styles and many different models/outfits provided).
After submitting the edits, yet another person responded to inform me of being “unsuccessful “. Again no reasons were given, no feedback on the edits. If this is how people who want to work for DFYNE are being treated I wonder how people actively working there are being treated. The whole “we at DFYNE do things differently” is embarrassing. Unless, of course, different means lacking respect for others and their time as well as professionalism.
