Entry Level Embedded Software Engineer Interview

      8 Feb 2017
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at DPS Telecom

      Interview

As soon as I applied, I was automatically scheduled for an on-site screening. During this screening they had me read a paragraph and type it on a keyboard to see my WPM. They then had me do an online personality quiz. Then I met with someone to discuss my resume, what I knew about the company, and why I wanted to work there. They gave me a programming assignment without a set deadline. When I finished it, I was scheduled for another on-site interview, where they set up a computer in a room and made me do a programming assignment, and pretty much left me there the whole day. I didn't finish so nevertheless they let me come back a second day to finish. When I finished the assignment the next day, someone came in and let me take an IQ test on the computer. When I was finished, pretty much everybody had left already. So I just went home and sent them and email and never heard from them since.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

They had me write code for a microcontroller. It was a basic sorting algorithm. The difficult part was the space constraint. If you weren't careful, you would run out of space if you used too much space in memory or if the project size was too large.
