      Management Trainee Interview

      14 Mar 2018
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Dayton, OH
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Dayton Freight (Dayton, OH) in Dec 2017

      Interview

Multiple interviews, both webcam and in person. At least five interviews which is a bit ridiculous for a management position in the transportation industry that pays well below the industry average. For the first two interviews, they expect you to drive to one of their hubs to meet with different supervisors. This is before the final interview in Dayton, Ohio which is the only interview that matters. The questions are very easy. They want to get to know you better, and make sure that you understand the importance of "servant leadership." If you make it to the corporate interview in Dayton, you will see other soon to be college grads that are competing for the same position (only one will receive an offer). I did not receive an offer which turned out to be a blessing in disguise. To me, twelve weeks of training which includes learning how to become a dock worker, does not sound all that great especially while earning the salary of a salesman without an opportunity to make commission. You must really want to work in the transportation industry (aka work at loading dock) or else save the time that you would have spent interviewing and apply to other companies. To top it all off, they had someone whom I had never met before call me to tell me that I did not receive a management trainee offer. I was told that there is a different position that they are considering me for, then they forgot to call me during our scheduled interview time. Make sure that the transportation/logistics/working at a loading dock industry is what you really want to do because there are other industries to work in that are more financially rewarding if you have a diversifiable degree.
