I applied online. The process took 2+ months. I interviewed at Diffusion PR (New York, NY) in May 2019
Interview
The initial application requires applicants to describe their experience and what they can bring to the team, as well as answer three essay questions (PR case studies) and provide two references upfront. A week after submitting my application, I was invited to do a 20-minute phone interview with a campaign executive. During this conversation, I was asked to further describe my experience and explain why I was interested in Diffusion PR. We also discussed an assignment I had been given prior to the interview; I was given a description of an app, and I had to choose two media outlets to pitch the app to. At the end of the interview, I was given the opportunity to ask questions. Three weeks after the phone interview, I was invited to their office for an in-person interview. The interview began with a surprise assignment to pitch a product to my 3 interviewers as if they were reporters. Then I had to present an assignment I was given prior to the interview to create a campaign and write a press release for a new product. After this they asked me questions about my experience, education, interest in PR, etc. There really weren't any behavioral questions. At the end of the interview, I was given the opportunity to ask questions. Twenty days later I received a rejection email with feedback about my application/interview. Even though I didn't get an offer, Diffusion PR created a positive experience throughout the process. It seems like a great company with great people.

Question 1
What's your favorite media outlet?
Why are you interested in PR?
I had an over the phone initial call/interview which I felt went well. The interviewer was kind and informative. They stated that regardless of if I move on or not, I will hear back from them within a week. After two weeks of no response, I decided to follow up with an email. Which I still never got a response to. Felt very unprofessional and honestly disheartening to be ghosted after speaking on the phone with them. They answered my application within 12 hours but couldn’t be bothered to at least send a rejection email after the interview.

Interview
There are three rounds to the application process - I had gotten to the final round (the in-person interview) which was a presentation and Q+A portion. It had gone smoothly and had expected to hear back the following week on a decision. I followed up after more than a week had passed and they had stated that they were still deciding on applicants. I was also supposed to be reimbursed for a portion of my travels and had written confirmation from them. After a few weeks of no follow-up nor a response, I took it as a rejection. I never got reimbursed for what I was owed as well.
No decency to send a reply or any further notice. If they weren't going to reimburse then they should have been transparent about that. The lack of professionalism is telling.
