I applied online. I interviewed at Douglas Hoerr Landscape Architecture
Interview
The 1hour interview started with casual self-introduction and portfolio introduction, the interviewer them ask a few of the questions to answer. Interviewers include two associates and one manager.
The questions were common ones, about your personal choice and why you choose this firm.
I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Douglas Hoerr Landscape Architecture (Chicago, IL) in May 2021
Interview
Hoerr Schaudt conducted several hours of interviews in two different stages. Described the large scope and multi-million dollar value of their Landscape projects. Position required a person with 5+ years in the industry with over 50% out-of-state travel.
When discussing pay range they offered $30k below market value for my experience and the desired workload. I communicated that I was very interested and willing to negotiate regardless. They explained that they were building a new team and would be in touch regarding next steps. Did not hear from anybody at the company for several weeks. Sent a follow up email communicating my continued interest and asked for an update. They didn't bother responding at all.
No respect for people's time & experience, and a great indication of how negative it would have been to work at the company. Do not let them waste your time. Apply elsewhere.

Interview
Straight forward - good interview. My advice is to focus on your portfolio because it’ll speak volumes. Tour previous work is important. Take a few copies to share. Dress nicely.
