      Software Engineer Interview

      21 May 2020
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Los Angeles, CA
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Endpoint (Los Angeles, CA) in May 2020

      Interview

Phone Screen with recruiter, take home project. Recruiter's communication was spotty at best, and the whole process was very unprofessional. The recruiter initially recruited me for a certain squad, and even after initially not wanting to move on, they had a hiring manager reach out to me to urge me to take their take home assignment. I agreed mainly due to my conversation with this hiring manager and liking what I heard about the project his squad was working on. I received this take home assignment on Saturday morning, and promptly submitted it the next day on Sunday, only to find out two days later on Tuesday that the role I was recruited for has been filled already, and they wanted to have me interview for a different squad. There is no way they did not know this role had an offer out to be filled prior to sending me the take home assignment on Saturday. The whole experience was a bad candidate experience and a waste of my time. If I had already not wanted to move on in the first place, why push me to waste my time over a weekend to do your take home assignment when I've clearly told the recruiter I had other interviews lined up? Why sell me on a role for a product when that was already getting fulfilled?
