      They do a good job of screening to make sure that their contractors have a high level of skill. They interview candidates prior to sending them out for client interviews.

      Technical Writers typically have to pass a written exam to show writing and proofreading abilities. This exam may have time limit, depending on the client. It's can be a high pressure experience if you're unqualified, or didn't expect to have to demonstrate skills on the spot.
