      Senior Product Designer Interview

      2 Apr 2025
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at ExpertVoice in Mar 2025

      Interview

I had an initial phone screening, and the interviewer had no idea what role I had applied for. Every question I asked completely stumped them. I understand that an initial call is just a screening, but at the very least, they should have some understanding of the position and what it entails. This recruiter was, without a doubt, one of the most incompetent I've encountered—something that should have been my first red flag. During the call, they outlined the interview process, which was excessive: -Meet with the director -Walking the team through my work history/experience -A half-day working project with ExpertVoice employees. -Have three to four panels, either one-on-one or two-on-one I made it to the next round, where I met with my prospective director—who I’d be working under. From the moment the conversation started, he constantly interrupted me, mocked my experience, and was snarky and rude. I’ve been in tough interviews before, but I have never wanted to disconnect from a call as much as I did during this one. I did not write a follow-up note, nor thank him for his time. Even if I made it to the next round, I wouldn't work for this company because I don't want to work with or for him. Make prospective hires excited to join the team as they will be working with you every single day. In a professional setting, like this interview experience, this director was belittling me, doubting my skills without reason, and being unnecessarily rude/dismissive. It's unprofessional and a major red flag in any workplace.
