Interview
There was a posting for a store manager position that was open in Petoskey, so I applied on the internet, got a phonecall and decided to go for an interview.
Firstly, I walked in and told the clerk on duty that I was there for an interview. Shortly after, the manager just walked right past me no hello or any greeting. I decided that she must be busy, so I went to peruse the videos. About 15 minutes later (and past my scheduled appointed time) she asked me if I was there for an interview.
The interview process itself was very generic. She only asked me two questions. 1) what kind of customer service experience do I have, and 2) Do I know that I would have to relocate for this job? I explained that I have over 7 years of experience in customer service, with 5 of those 7 in management capacities, as well as having a BA in Management.
She informed me that THERE WERE NO manager positions open in Petoskey, OR the surrounding area. WTF?? It was advertised on their store with a BIG BANNER that they were hiring a store manager. This is obviously a ploy to get people to apply.
As it turns out, Family Videos process is to have you interviewed by a store manager as a screening tool, and then by a district manager if you are willing to MOVE OUT OF STATE to relocate. They don't seem to understand that they are creating false advertising by saying that there are management positions open in particular cities.
This is a big waste of time, please do not say there are positions open when there are none. People do not deserve to be deceived. Shame on you Family Video!

Interview
Went through two interview, one with the district manager and one with the regional manager. Happened quickly, but had to drive an hour away for second interview, which was a lot to ask of someone with no guarantee of hiring.
