      QA Technician Interview

      5 Mar 2021
      Anonymous employee
      London, England
      Accepted offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Feral Interactive (London, England) in Nov 2019

      Interview

I originally applied for the Design QA Technician position. I was sent a test to complete online. After completing the test I was told that they didn't think I was "ready" for the position I applied for, but would instead consider me for a normal QA position. I later learned this happened to almost all others that applied for the Design QA Technician position, so it is my opinion that this baiting is a standard and deliberate practice. An on-site day-long test followed. The test was held in the QA office. Here there were a dozen or so workers in a small open office, but nobody spoke for the whole day, which was very awkward, and should have raised a red flag right away. After the day of test, I had a follow up with the QA manager, which went over my test and my cv. An HR person was also present and she asked me informal questions as what games I play. All in all it was a standard interview, but the test day environment was very weird. Also I had to take a whole day out of my regular job, which is a lot to ask to a potential employee. I was then briefly introduced to the design team manager, with which I had an informal chat, and to the CEO. The CEO commented on my involvement in the past with a political organisation, as it was on my cv, and wanted to make sure that I wouldn't bring politics to the office (in hindsight, another red flag). After a few days I was offered the job, which I had to travel to the office once more to accept. The pay was ridiculous, but I had no choice at the time.

      9 Jan 2025
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Wandsworth, England
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Feral Interactive (Wandsworth, England) in Jan 2025

      Interview

Firstly, you get asked to do a home assessment, which I apparently did well on and got invited into a face to face interview. The place is very quiet and has an awkward atmosphere. Interviewer sat me down and immediately made me do two assessments. One bug reporting task and a performance report. Then got taken to do a short interview. Barely any questions were asked. Took four hours and a lot of money to get there for a poor experience.

      Question 1

What made you want to apply for the QA Tech role?

      Accepted offer
      Neutral experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Feral Interactive in Oct 2019

      Interview

      - QA Testing a game (Rise of the Tomb Raider) and logging bugs on JIRA - Logging of framerate on a DIRT racing game + producing a report on the results - Standard interview with head of QA - Repeat interview with CEO

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Was asked a series of highly technical and bizarrely specific questions (that never came up on the job). Wasn't able to answer several of these questions but was still offered the job anyway. Maintain your calm, pay attention, and answer honestly.
