I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Fesco Distributors in Mar 2020
Interview
One of the worst. Half-hour long phone call where the interviewer criticized my background, told me I wasn't what he was looking for, and warned me he's had bad experiences with hiring people and that he doesn't want it to happen again. Said he'd like to give me the chance to prove myself with an assignment that he would send me. I agreed (though I already knew at this point that I would probably choose not to move forward, should it go that far). He didn't even send me anything, just an automated rejection email a few days later. Disrespectful waste of time. Didn't even ask me relevant questions, just went on and on. Ultimately, I felt like I was being lectured by a patronizing, power-tripping step-dad with nothing better to do.
None of this was overly surprising given the employee reviews for the company, but I thought I'd give them a chance to make a better impression. But no, it seems you can trust those negative sentiments. It wasn't even valuable interview practice, and the criticism was not constructive. It only made me wonder "why in the world are you calling me?"
Put in contact to the design department via a recruiter, I was warned ahead of time about the interior of this place. It only took one interview and a small talk to get the job. This interviewer talked negatively about the job and the company during the process, it was a tactic to seem authentic but was a real turnoff to the company/acceptance of the job.
