Interviewed for a marketing position based in Farmington Hills, MI. The interview process included an initial phone screen with HR, a Zoom interview with marketing team leadership, and a final in-person interview at the company’s Grand Rapids office to meet additional team members.
Everyone I met was professional, welcoming, and seemed like part of a strong team culture. However, I drove approximately two hours each way and took a day off work to attend the final interview, ultimately not receiving an offer.
While I understand that not every candidate will receive an offer, the final in-person interview felt like a significant time commitment given the outcome. A virtual meeting could have achieved the same purpose and would have been more considerate of candidates’ schedules and travel requirements, especially when the position itself was based in Farmington Hills.
Overall, the team left a positive impression, but the process required a substantial investment of time without a clear indication that an in-person meeting was necessary.
