It was a position of UX designer of Design System. I have negative experience and don't recommend this place for work.
- I was not informed how the technical interview will looks like and I needed to show the Figma sources that was under NDA.
- I was never asked about the design process—how it started, how the scope of components was selected, questions about design tokens and other important aspects that should be considered when building a design system from scratch. However, it was concluded that I would not be able to create a Design System, despite the fact that I have done it before and provided proof of this.
- I didn't get any information about a project, team, community, literally nothing about the future job and responsibilities.
I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Forte Group in Apr 2025
Interview
Initially I had an interview with someone from recruiting, it was better than usual as the person doing the interview had some role related questions which were logical and to the point.
On the 2nd interview, which was the tech interview, the guy was nice, but on one hand he constantly gave the impression, and even said so, that he was in a hurry, while on the other we were there for 2:15 hours.
I didn’t really think it was done in the best format, that is, instead of a flowing back and forth conversation, it was more a very long and tedious interrogation. Sometimes when I was in the middle of a response, which were never very long, I got interrupted to “move on to the next one”. Other times I was asked “nothing else?” So it was difficult to assess the detail level expectation. There were a lot of questions, more than I would have expected, related to handling team extra hours, at least two related to how to handle such a request when at the same time not offering compensation for such hours. Not very reassuring. I replied with what I consider to be MY correct behavior in such scenarios, specifying that such requests should be very punctual and sporadic.
In the end, the feedback, which I asked as I was given the chance to do a question, was that even though it was clear that I have a lot of real world experience, which I do, I wasn’t very detailed on my responses about how I would handle “difficult” clients. I did, but of course I didn’t focus on that aspect at all, that’s true.

Question 1
In which situations you would ask the team to do extra hours with no compensation?
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Forte Group (London, England) in Apr 2025
Interview
I had a disappointing experience interviewing with Forte Group for a position based in London. Project - first.com
I was initially contacted by a recruiter who invited me to an interview. The interview itself went well, and I was asked to send over my portfolio and resumé, which I did promptly. Shortly afterward, I received a test assignment, which I also completed and submitted within the requested timeframe.
However, despite being told I would receive feedback on a specific day, no one followed up. I reached out the next day to ask for an update, and only then did the recruiter respond, saying the company had decided to prioritize hiring a “local.” When I asked what that meant, I was told they were only considering British nationals for the role.
I find this incredibly frustrating and disappointing, especially considering the company was well aware from the start that I am not a British citizen. To go through the entire interview process, complete a test assignment, and then be told something that could have been clarified at the very beginning feels both disrespectful and unprofessional.
Job seekers invest time, effort, and energy into application processes. The least we deserve is transparency and respect. I hope Forte Group reflects on this and improves the way they handle candidate communication in the future.

Question 1
The interview questions were appropriate, this is how they treated the process I explained above that was very much unprofessional.
